OCESA presented its 2026 Sustainability Report on 28 September. In the document, the company declares 13 million attendees and more than 800 shows promoted between July 2025 and July 2026. The figure is published by its own press office, and the same day it was reproduced by La Razón de México, which circulates the company's statement, not an independent check.
The figures declared by the company
The period covered by the report runs from July 2025 to July 2026, so it doesn't match the calendar year. Within that timeframe, OCESA also declares having worked with more than 1,600 suppliers.
The rest of the balance sheet is environmental and social. The company puts recycled waste at more than 100 tonnes and disposable cups avoided at 1.4 million, and declares more than 37,600 people benefiting from its social initiatives. On accessibility, it cites 760 deaf people who have taken part in inclusive musical experiences, and points to an initiative at the Estadio GNP Seguros with sensory vests and Mexican Sign Language interpretation. That cup figure also has a production-side reading: the bar, the inventory and the on-site payment method are what will hold up or tank that number the following year.
What the statement leaves out
The 13 million comes with no breakdown. The text doesn't split the figure by event, city or venue, doesn't explain how those people were counted, and makes no mention of methodology or external verification.
So it's best to read the number for what it is: a statement by the company about its own activity, not a measurement of live music in Mexico. The pattern repeats, and we've already documented it with the closing figures for Spanish festivals, published without anyone explaining who does the counting. In Spain, the sector's annual aggregate arrives through at least one other route, the promoters' association yearbook. Here, the volume figure is supplied by a company about its own activity, and it travels inside a sustainability report.
